What It’s Like to Stay on Ambergris Caye

Though there are many beautiful places in Belize, perhaps none of them is as beautiful as Ambergris Caye. Ideally located, with access to some of Belize’s most popular and most inspiring attractions, this Caye is entirely unique. When you are traveling to Belize, you have a wide variety of places you can choose to stay, but we know that staying on this island is one of the best choices you could make. Here’s what it’s like to stay here:

The Climate

Like all of Belize, Ambergris Caye boasts a tropical climate. This means that throughout most of the year, this part of Belize has temperate temperatures and calm waters. Belize also has a rainy season, just like all tropical countries, but for those that do not mind the rain, even this time of year is charming.

The Accommodations

Belize is home to a great number of beautiful resorts that offer your beachfront views and access. Indigo is just one of those resorts that allows you to literally walk out of your room and onto the beach. For those that want to spend at least a good portion of their time in Belize on the beach, staying at a resort that allows you anytime access to a fairly private section of beach is a huge bonus.

While you might spend most of your time outside of your room, choosing a resort that has clean rooms that are as beautiful as the scenery outside can make your stay on the Caye even more enjoyable.

The Atmosphere

Though still part of Belize, Ambergris Caye is set off of the country. The island itself is a little more primitive, but compared to ten years ago, it has definitely acquired some modern developments. No longer entirely rustic, it is still easy to feel that you are thousands of miles from civilization, without actually being so far away from civilization that you feel stranded.

Most people on Ambergris Caye wake up and put on a swimsuit. Swimsuits are almost the uniform of the area, and why not? When you’re surrounded by miles of beautiful ocean, it is always a good idea to be prepared to take a swim!
